A simple example of the IR challenges presented by organism names can be demonstrated by searching large collections of content such as are available on internet search engines like Google. Searching by a single name does not return the full corpus of content related to the taxon because other names have been used for this species. This includes misspellings as well as biology-specific reasons. Each name form returns distinct search results.
